About the Event
--Note new time, 6 p.m. for this June only.--
This month we pick up one of the themes from Anne Lamott: how good it makes you feel to be outside. The Nature Fix by Florence Williams encourages us to get outdoors by explaining the science behind why being in nature feels good. Spoiler alert: it causes your blood pressure and stress levels to go down and your sense of well-being and mental cognition go up, just to name a few benefits. Williams interviews dozen of experts and keeps it interesting with stories about her personal experience.
If you can't join us for the in-person discussion consider reading the book anyway. It changes something when many people are mulling over the same ideas and the more of us who go outside the better we will feel. (Yoga at Ashland, anyone?)
The Natrure Fix is available at your local bookstores and at the Lexington Public Library, and online at Bookshop and ThriftBooks and on Kindle.
